Identification process overview

  • Updated

To protect against potential fraud, you need to prove your identity by completing identification. This process confirms your identity and that your identity document is authentic.

You must complete identification at the following key points of your user journey:

  • Account onboarding
  • Accepting an account membership
  • Passcode reset

Completing identification

To complete identification, finish the following four steps:

  1. Choose your identity document type.
  2. Select the country that issued your identity document.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to scan your identity document.
  4. Record a video of your face, then follow the remaining prompts.

The identification process is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After starting, you only have 10 minutes to complete the process.

First transfer

After completing identification, you might receive an email request to send a first transfer to your account from another account in your name. Not all account holders need to send a first transfer.

Transfer limits apply to your account during verification. Refer to the first transfer article for details.

Electronic signature

You might need to sign the Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) of your payment account at the end of the identification process using a verification code sent to you by text message. Not all account holders need to provide an electronic signature.

The identification process varies based on your account type (individual, company, or self-employed). Swan determines your account type automatically.
