Be SAFE∗
If you suspect fraud, react immediately. Swan invites you to be SAFE, not sorry.
- S: See something suspicious?
- A: Act quickly
- F: Follow instructions
- E: Exercise discretion
Remember, Swan never contacts you to transfer money outside of established Support channels, and neither should your payment account provider.
If a request feels urgent, contact the person who made the request in another way. For example, if they sent you an email, call or text them to confirm the request.
∗ The SAFE acronym is borrowed from the Yale University Information Security Office's online safety campaign.
How to be SAFE
Review what to do if you suspect fraud.
Event | Your responsibility |
---|---|
S: See something suspicious? |
Pay attention to how you feel about a request.
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, take a step back before responding. Trust how you feel. |
A: Act quickly |
Report the incident to Swan and your payment account provider right away. Don't wait, don't be embarrassed, and don't let someone talk you out of your gut feeling about the situation. However, don't act quickly to the request. Wait to transfer funds or provide information until you know it's a legitimate request. |
F: Follow instructions |
Provide Swan with all requested information right away. |
E: Exercise discretion |
Be careful until you know your account is secure. Consider resetting your passcode and waiting to make purchases until the incident is resolved. |
